Submission Guidelines

The UCLM Journal of Research and Innovation welcomes high-quality, original research articles, reviews, case studies, and short communications from faculty, students, and professionals across diverse disciplines. All submissions must strictly follow the journal’s guidelines to be considered for review and publication.

1. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original and not previously published, nor under consideration in another journal.
  • All submissions must have received ethical clearance from the University of Cebu Research Ethics Committee (or another recognized body when applicable).
  • Manuscripts must be written in English (or Filipino when applicable, with an English abstract).
  • Authors must submit an electronic copy in Microsoft Word (.docx) format to: uclmresearchcenter@uc.edu.ph

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should generally follow the structure below (may vary depending on the type of article):

Title Page

  • Title of the article (concise and informative)
  • Author(s) full name, affiliation, and email address
  • ORCID iD (if available)
  • Corresponding author indicated

Abstract

  • Maximum 250 words
  • Structured into: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusion
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords

Main Text (12,000 words maximum for full articles)

  • Introduction
  • Methodology (design, participants, instruments, procedures, ethics approval)
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion and Recommendations
  • Acknowledgments (optional)
  • References

3. Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Spacing: Double-spaced, justified
  • Margins: 1 inch (all sides)
  • Headings: Use consistent heading levels (APA format recommended)
  • Tables and Figures: Numbered consecutively, placed close to their mention in the text, with descriptive titles and sources (if applicable)

4. Citation and Referencing Style

  • The journal follows the APA 7th Edition citation style.
  • All references must be complete, accurate, and listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.

5. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

  • Original Research Articles (up to 12,000 words)
  • Review Articles (up to 12,000 words)
  • Case Studies (up to 10,000 words)
  • Short Communications/Reports (up to 4,000 words)

6. Plagiarism Policy

  • Manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software.
  • Submissions with more than 20% similarity (excluding references) will be returned to authors for revision or rejected.

7. Submission and Review Process

  • Submit manuscripts via email to uclmresearchcenter@uc.edu.ph
  • Authors will receive an acknowledgment within 5 working days.
  • Accepted manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review.
  • Authors will be notified of the editorial decision (accept, revise, reject) after the review process.

8. Publication Frequency

The UCLM Journal of Research and Innovation is published bi-annually.
